What It Is
Suboxone, a key medication in the fight against opioid addiction, has now been linked to severe tooth decay and dental damage. Lawsuits are being filed nationwide, alleging the manufacturer failed to warn users for over a decade.
What the Recall or Product Is
Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) is taken under the tongue, but its acidic properties can erode enamel and rot teeth. The FDA only required a warning label in 2022 following a recall—despite years of user complaints and dental trauma.
The FDA required warning label includes the risk of dental problems in the prescribing information and the patient Medication Guide for all buprenorphine-containing medicines dissolved in the mouth.
What the Signature Injury Is and How It’s Hurting People
Victims report:
* Cavities and infections
* Gum loss and oral surgery
* Full mouth reconstruction
* Tooth loss and embarrassment
These injuries are especially devastating to recovering addicts seeking stability.
